Welcome to the
Montgomery County Down Syndrome Interest Group
(MCDSIG)!
The purpose of this site is to help parents and families
with Down Syndrome find the needed information and resources
that are specific to the Montgomery County Pennsylvania area
and to keep members update on our news and events. We are
a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization without member dues. Our
tax number is #232171325.
Mission
statement:
Montgomery County DSIG exists to support
families and friends of individuals with Down syndrome through
mutual support and guidance, and to assist in increasing the
overall social understanding and acceptance of Trisomy 21.
Goals:
Increase interfamily communications
- Provide guidance and information to new parents and new
families on available services, options, care centers, etc.
- Provide situation-based mentoring and mutual support with
other families
- Foster an open forum where individuals can meet socially
to get to know each other better and build closer relationships
Provide topical expertise
- Provide professional information through presentations
and targeted information sharing topic appropriate issues
such as estate planning, transitioning, inclusion, health
issues, etc.
- Offering professional speakers
Fundraising
- Become financially self sufficient through fund raising
and volunteerism
- Use the available funds in a financially and socially
responsible manner that will ultimately benefit the families
and individuals with Trisomy 21 through education and support.
