The Learning Program

Learning Program Level 1 Class of 2013/2014

Learning Program Level 1
Class of 2013/2014

Last year MCDSIG announced an education pilot program, in collaboration with the renowned Learning Program of the Down Syndrome Foundation of Orange County in CaliforniaThe Learning Program™ (TLP) is an educational program intended to supplement, our children’s formal education. The program targets the cognitive abilities of children with Down syndrome and develops competencies in literacy and math through direct instruction and targeted materials used at home.  It also has an occupational and speech therapy component.

We are excited to offer Level 1, 2 and 3 classes for the 2015/2016 school year.

The program focuses on parents as first teachers for their children, bringing the fruits of research into practice. Partnering with Sue Buckley and Down Syndrome Education USA, the Learning program of Orange County combine current research on best practices with effective teaching strategies to help support our children in the educational process.

The MCDSIG Learning Program is made possible by the efforts of many volunteer parents, teachers, therapists and students.  If you are interested in volunteering or in learning more about future Learning Program sessions, please contact us at info@mcdsig.org.

You can help support The Learning Program by donating to MCDSIG any time!
